Q: is it free, or is it $199, or can I have either as a choice?

A: No it is not free. You will find it won't work on 3dcart and they will charge you. It is poorly documented and after several months I cancelled my subscription because they kept adding charges to my account. They even charged me $50 incorrectly due to a date issue from Amazon and said I would get my $50 back but they kept it. A rip off.

A: I have this app installed on my 3dcart store but so far it does not seem to work. I have tried for weeks to get it working and figure out why there is a error code 102 but nobody seems to know the answer and frankly nobody seems to care. Maybe they just don't know what they are doing. But I would suggest that you go to Avalara or TaxJar if it works for you.

A: TaxCloud is a third-party solution for online Tax Calculation. Their service is completely free.
The $199 is a one-time fee for the Connector that allows your 3dcart store to integrate with TaxCloud, this is not a fee from TaxCloud but from 3dcart.

Q: Once the app is loaded in our 3dcart store, can we select just the handful of states where we might have nexus, or does it automatically calculate sales tax for every US order regardless of what states we have regsitered in for tax collection?

A: Yes, you would use the Selective Compliance service option and only activate the states where you know you have an obligation to collect in.

A: Once the 3dCart app is loaded in your 3dCart store all transactions will be submitted to TaxCloud for sales tax calculation. However, the tax due calculation is based upon your settings in TaxCloud. If you configure TaxCloud to only collect in 1 or 3 states, those states will have a tax amount returned to 3dCart, all others will return zero tax due.
